So, why are some marketing ethical problems hard to cure?
Most marketing and advertising efforts are result based. There’s also a thin line between obvious lies and lies of omission in advertising.
Even though code of ethics and government laws prohibit lies in advertising, lies of omission is how marketers present only the best part of the product to consumers. Marketers cannot present every single information about a product, and because there are typically no set rules on what is considered relevant information and what isn’t in non-health related products and issues, marketers often cross the line.
