Cultural difference in Marketing

  1. Culture is learned; Culture is a set of values.

How do we familiarize ourselves with a new culture?

The most effective way to familiarize ourselves with a new culture is to interact with the locals. Understand their thought process and expectations. This also applies to marketing.

How will culture make a significant difference in the manner in which a product is marketed when going from its home country to a new target market?

Companies are constantly on the lookout for new opportunities. Product and marketing diversification is vital, because culture can, and will impact the consumer’s perception of the brand, as well as product appeal.

As we know, logo is a form of advertising. This brand representation forms the consumer’s perception of the brand. It is one way a brand can stand out from the competition and create a lasting impression in the minds of consumers. This is one of the reasons why big and successful organizations carefully select the style, font and colors of their logos.

A good example is the McDonald’s logo on the Italian website vs US website. That is, Green vs Red. This is because the Italian culture tends to favor healthier more natural food options when compared to the US.
